We are partnering with the mission Rescue Ukraine in their effort to remember the children lost in the war in Ukraine.  600 teddy bears will be placed on the hillside next to the Washington Monument in honor of each Ukrainian child who has died during the Russian invasion of their country. (Later, most teddy bears will be given to children/orphans in Ukraine.)

During the ceremony we will say the name of every child who has been killed and ring a bell in their honor. We will lift up prayers for the children of Ukraine wounded, stolen (about 16,000!), orphaned, displaced, and who continue to be traumatized by this war.

We will sing, “Prayer for Ukraine,” and to conclude the service, violinists will perform the song “Melodia Skoryka,” a traditional Ukrainian song which honors the dead.

After the ceremony teddy bears will be placed at several locations including, the Russian and Ukrainian embassies, the White House, and the Capitol building.

WE NEED YOUR HELP WITH THE FOLLOWING:

  • Come to the the Washington Monument and stand with us and stand up for the children of Ukraine.
  • Help us promote this event via social media, church announcements, and word of mouth so all who love our Ukrainian neighbors can be aware of the opportunity to gather with us in Washington.
  • Help us get the word out to local, national, and international media. Pictures of these teddy bears scattered across the hillside need to be seen around the world! The message that, “these children matter” must be heard everywhere… The most innocent and helpless victims of Russian aggression have stories that must be told.
  • Pray! Pray for this event to succeed in its goals to remember the lost children of Ukraine and to remind the world of the terror endured by Ukraine’s children and those who love them.
