Children’s Ministry

Being a Christian is not meant to be a lonely experience.  This is as important for a child as it is for an adult.  The Arlington Church strives to provide an atmosphere where children can not only come to grow in faith and knowledge about God, but in relationships with one another.  Here are some examples of events throughout the year.  For more information, please contact Linda Hlasta.

  • Children’s Worship twice a month, during the adult assembly.
  • Day trips in the summer and a trip to Cox Farm or another Fall Festival.
  • VBS
  • Plus many other TBA events throughout the year.

Youth Ministry

For information on our High School ministry or Middle School ministry, please contact Clayton Tune at  This ministry focuses on two things: discovering the truth in God and building relationships within the church.  We take numerous trips throughout the year, below are some examples:

  • Winterfest is one of our biggest.  We rent a large cabin up in the mountains of Gatlinburg, TN and enjoy the weekend together.
  • Summer Retreat
  • Fall Retreat – A place close to home destination for the weekend
  • A number of TBA events during the summer: laser tag, paintball, white water rafting, movies, sports, etc.

Education Ministry

Our mission as a Body of Christ is to go and teach the word of God to others.  It’s the same today as it was in the Old and New Testament.  But we can’t teach until we ourselves spend some time learning.  Everyone needs a Bible and a time to study the Bible.  You cannot lead a Christian life without it, otherwise, how will you know what you’re doing?  We offer classes for all ages on Sunday Morning:

  • Nursery for ages 2 and under during assembly.
  • Age appropriate classes on Sunday morning before worship service.
  • Children’s Worship twice a month during worship service.
  • Adult Classes
  • Women’s classes (Once a year)
  • High school and Middle School Classes on Sunday morning before worship service.

Agape Trust

Established in 1986, the AGAPE Trust helps needy people in our community buy their groceries or pay for essential housing or medical care.  The Internal Revenue Service has recognized the AGAPE Trust as a supporting organization of the Arlington Church of Christ, and most of the AGAPE Trust’s trustees are members of our congregation.  Potential Trust beneficiaries include members of the our congregation and residents of the Virginia counties of Arlington or Fairfax, the Virginia cities of Alexandria, Fairfax or Falls Church, or the District of Columbia.  Inquiries about the AGAPE Trust should be directed to

Arlington Street People’s Assistance Network (A-SPAN)

Arlington County, while one of the wealthier counties in the nation, still has a significant portion of our population that doesn’t have permanent housing and is classified as food insecure. At Arlington Church of Christ we partner with two local organizations to help address these needs. First, we work with the Arlington Street People’s Assistance Network (A-SPAN) to help the homeless in our community. We work with ASPAN to regularly provide toiletry items and new underclothing for shelter residents and street people. We also volunteer with ASPAN to distribute bagged meals to those on the street. Finally, once per year we host an ASPAN walk to raise awareness in our neighborhood of the homeless problem and raise money for ASPAN’s activities.

Arlington Food Assistance Center

We also work with the Arlington Food Assistance Center to address food insecurity for school children in our neighborhood. We work with the social worker at Thomas Jefferson Middle School to identify at risk students. We then partner with AFAC in their “backpack buddies” program to provide easily prepared, prepackaged food for these kids to have on weekends when they do not receive school breakfasts and lunches. We underwrite the cost of these meals and deliver the meals from AFAC to TJ Middle School. In 2019 our benevolence ministry will work with our children’s ministry to host a summer food drive for AFAC.
